WELCOME

“Honest, adorable, rough, multicultural, ever-changing.”

That’s how the British newspaper The Guardian described Dortmund in an article on October 26, 2015. Even though it is the biggest city in the Ruhr area, it still has spots and corners that wait to be explored.

This site here should help you with that, showing some well-known sights but also giving insider tips from locals. However, I guarantee you that I couldn’t catch all the good spots to hang out or every cozy cafe. So you should better come and go on a little tour yourself! Or, at least, virtually.

But, wait a second, let me explain where these mysterious insider tips are coming from.headshot_Anna
My name is Anna and I’m studying Applied Linguistics at the TU Dortmund since October 2013. In my time here, the city received a special place in my heart – even though it might not be the most beautiful city in the traditional sense. It is such a lovely place with incredibly open-minded people and a unique atmosphere.
So, in addition to my own discoveries, I asked my friends and other students to tell me where their favourite place in Dortmund is. All of these different impressions led to a colourful map which helps you explore the twelve districts!
Or read some general info about the city first.

Click on the map and let’s go!
